Meet Mrs. Kowalski

Picture
Welcome to first grade!  Please allow me to introduce myself.  My name is Jenny Kowalski.  I have worked for the Hamilton County Department of Education since Dec. 1990.  I have worked in several of the School Age Child Care Programs and have taught in the classroom for 14 years. I am happily married and have 2 boys (11 yrs and 6 yrs).  I look forward to getting to know and working with you and your child this year.Welcome to first grade!

Basic Information

1.  Please check backpacks daily for any notes and/or newsletters coming home.  Please take the time to look over the work papers and discuss them with your child.  Show concern for papers not completed at your child's potential, as well as praising him/her for good papers.
2.  There will be regular homework assignments Monday-Thursday.   Work that has not been completed in class will also be sent to be completed at home.  Please check your child's homework folder each night.  Also be sure to sign your child's behavior sheet at the end of each week.  Place any notes, money, etc. in the homework folder.
3.  The homework binder contains a Parent/Teacher Communication Log.  Please write all quick notes on this page and I will do the same.  Initial each note that I write so that I will know you have read it.  I will do the same for you.  You may also email me at [email protected] or leave a call back message at 874-1917.
4.  School begins promptly at 7:55 a.m.  It is important that each child be on time in order to maintain quality instruction and keep distractions to a minimum.  If your child is absent, you must sent a note stating the reason for the absence.  Your child will be responsible for completing any work missed while absent or tardy.  Please remember that three tardies equals one absence.
5.  Always put money in an envelope with your child's name, teacher's name, amount, and what you are paying for on the outside.
6.  Please send fee money ($30.00) if you have not already done so.  Although not required, this fee money is vitally important to the daily operation of our classroom.  We will be glad to arrange a fee payment schedule if necessary.  Thanks a lot for your help in getting fees paid.
7.  If your home address, phone number, or work number change please notify me so that I can correct our records in order to reach you in case of emergency.
8.  For your child's safety, written notification is required before your child will be sent home a different way.
9.  Please send a water bottle with pop lid to drink.  This helps keep the students in the classroom.
